Gujarat State Police Complaints Authority is constituted under the Bombay Police (Gujarat Amendment) Act, 2007. This authority is looking into the complaints against police officers of the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police and above in respect of serious misconduct, dereliction of duty and misuse of powers. However, this authority has no jurisdiction to look into the matters covered by the Vigilance Commission, National Human Rights Commission, State Human Rights Commission, Commission for Minorities, Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Commission for Women and Commission for Backward Class Communities.
